As a Consultant and Consumer, I have become quite concerned with the levels of consumer personal and financial information invasions. Invasions occurring by way of consumer systems automation, consumer information sharing, the true lack of consumer information protection, and other business practices that are dangerous to the personal and financial lives on consumers. Because of these concerns, I have chosen to share my 20 years of knowledge, expertise, and experiences with these systems, business practices and the impact to the lives of consumers.
Since 2004, consumer information misuse and (corporate) consumer identity theft has increased to epidemic proportion. In 2009, the Fair Trade Commission?s (FTC), Consumer Sentinel, the database developed by the FTC, received over 670,000 consumer complaints of Identity Theft. The percentage breakdown was 36% identity theft complaints, which equates to 246,035 consumer complaints and 64% of the remaining complaints, were related to other forms of consumer fraud. These consumer losses totaled more than $1.1 billion.
The consumer financial loses are reaching into the billions of dollars. The FTC launched this database in 1997, and has recorded over 5.5 million consumer complaints through the year 2009. Between January and December 2009 the FTC received over 800,000 consumer fraud and identity theft complaints which have totaled over 1.2 Billion in consumer financial losses, and these losses are not all caused by strangers! These losses are caused by companies that you choose to conduct business with everyday...'Corporate Locust'. Locust that feast on your personal and financial.

THIS BOOK IS NOT JUST A BOOK ON IDENTITY PROTECTION, it is so much MORE! Just as Americans move to become more 'Green' in hopes of preserving the quality of life here on earth, the impact of consumer information theft is as dangerous. Everyone loses due to these invasions into consumer privacy, both consumers and corporations. However, the impact is felt most greatly by the average consumer trying to live, work and save for the future, while various entities continue to map out 'hidden' strategies to capture and resell consumer information. These invasions are not limited to just the capture and resell of consumer information; it also includes ill-developed systems and poor or scrupulous business practices that steal millions from consumers everyday.
The impact of consumer information theft by way of the various forms that I have detailed in my book has created a negative impact to the financial well-being of everyone. From banking systems failures to background information integrity, to financial information theft, to the number of CONSUMER REPORTING TOOLS, to the loss of consumer information privacy - the invasions continue and the cost of privacy increases. Corporations and their behaviors help to fuel this flame of increased cost of privacy and the greatest cost falls on the consumer. The cost to consumers to regain and restore their loss of privacy when corporate systems are hacked and consumer personal information is stolen and sold data brokers is extreme.
What is now of greatest cost to consumers is the loss of personal information that is caused by our day-to-day 'business relationships' with corporate
What has happened to this world that we live in? For those who may have lived long enough to have experienced a time in life where we as humans (now identified as 'consumers') could live in a town, go to bed at night and not worry if the doors to your homes were locked. To worry about identity theft is unconceivable. Now we have to worry about who is capturing or stealing our personal information, when is it being captured or stolen, and where is our information being transferred after this capture or theft. Yes, theft.
